I just use a razor, it works really good.. but I wouldn't try it with an acrylic tank..something similar to this.. I got mine for like $2 bucks.. although they can get more expensive..
No way dude, this stuff is stuck!! I'd scrub my hands raw before that crap comes off.. razor has been the only thing that will take it all off affectively.. and takes no time at all.. I can clean all my tanks .. just the calcium part .. in about..hum.. 10 min.. that's being liberal... Oh and I have 4 tanks.. 55g,40B, and 2 20g's.

Yup. With those deposits a razor is the only way to go if the tank is filled. I usually just use straight edge razor blades with a scraping handle from home depot or lowes. They are very cheap as well.
I had a 55 that was used as a turtle tank and was covered with it that I set up as a QT tank. It was about 4-6 months before being completely submerged made it easy to get the deposits off without a razorblade.
