Hello,

the specimen on pic1 is a Channa obscura (formerly known as Parachanna obscura), a species from Central Africa (especially Congo River) - growing up to 45cm ...

the specimen on pic2 ... there are two possibilities: Channa bleheri (normally this species has crimson-red spots on the head sides, but it is possible that this individuum is "shock-coloured") - or a Channa gachua, a local variety from Assam, India, that looks in many points similar to Channa bleheri, but has no red spots on the tail fin - unfortunately the tail fin cannot be seen on the pic.

Greetings

Uwe

exactly 100% obscura
I have young obscura and they look the same. For sure

It's an P.Insignis, close relative to P.Obscura. The spotting shape is slightly different, and the head shape & lenghth is also different, in comparison to P.Obscura. Just try'in to help..
