Ok ultimately I want one or 2 monster show cichlids for my 500g. The only other inhabitant will b my big henlei, but she's ok with other bigger fish. I was thinking either some cool wild Oscar or maybe like a big male jag? I want to get them small and grow them out in a smaller tank for some time, but what would you get and why and where?

or Umbee but other than no other cichlid really comes to mind that will occupy that 500g with ease and be absolutely a BLAST to watch.

you can't go wrong with a big amphilophus for looks and personality. a big black belt would be cool too. so would a big jaguar, freddy, rtm. there are so many lol
wait i remember you having a really nice big tank with cool pikes, rays, gars and cichla, what happened?
you could fit LOT more than 2 Oscars in a 500 gallon tank with only 1 other cichlid you could use half the tank for a pair of umbee and you could put a divider and put a pair of dovii on the other side you could also put 2 large catfish on each side just a thought you could also put 8 oscars and 2 big 2-3 foot catfish in a 500 gallon these are just ideas oh you could put some pearsei cichlid if you want oh i forgot you would need to get rid of the current cichlid to have the umbee and dovii idea
