What cichlid got you obsessed with cichlids

a yellow lab was my first and then i got a 6" oscar and it ate it. then i realised the differince in SA and africans and went SA all the way

african cichlids that my dad had. although i can say after around 10 years of keeping cichlids im starting to get bored of them. they only really do anything that isnt fighting or killing eachother when theyre begging for food. not really any natural behaviour.

does everyone go through this phase where they take a break from cichlids for a while? cause i swear they do.
