What cichlids to put in a 30 gallon? *newb*

Hi Im new to cichlids and I was wondering what are the best cichlids to start out with?
I have a 30 gallon tank and i was told to maybe try getting a pair of Convicts?
I have the tank all setup, and its been cycling for about a week now and i wanted to hear some opinions before i go to the lfs.

jewels would work, cons and krebnis are good too. i wouldn't go any bigger than that tho

a pair would work of some of the smaller Tanganyikans if you want something a little different, something like brichardi

i'd go with a pair of breeding krebs like i said earlier and plant it. that would be epic

Julidichromis transcriptus or regani.Honduran red points.
Shelldweller tank.

you could go with some Malawi Mbunas, 6 - 12 different species...
