what cichlids would breed in 55 gallon

Actually you can breed any cichlid in a 55g, provided you get them when they're small enough to breed, but not too large that they can't live in the tank anymore.

Assuming you just want to breed them.

Keeping them for life is a different matter.

Anyways OP, what are your plans? Just breed some fish to see what it's like? Or keep them in there for life? Do you want to fill it up sumwhat or just say keep a pair? What do you like the most, color? Aggression? Placidity? Interesting behaviour?

These are all good choices...I would also add severum, firemouth, and chocolate cichlids.
