I recently asked a question about converting to sand and someone also mentioned pool filter sand. What is the difference between it and reg aquarium sand ?

Well...Pool filter sand is made for pool filters...
It's very slightly larger grained, which is verrryyy nice. It means I can stir my sand up without it getting sucked up into my filter. My catfish like to fight sometimes and kick up a ton of sand right next to the filter but it hasn't gotten sucked up at all yet! It's also heavy enough that I can touch it with the gravel vac and it won't suck up.

home depot has tube sand, like the kind you toss in your pick up....not as fine as sand but finer than gravel....3.00 for 50lbs

stevenjohn21 Did you buy your bamboo at that size if so where and if not how long did it take to get it there also what kind is it? Would possibly make an interesting background if you had enough of them .....

I bought the bamboo from my local Lowes, it was on offer at 99 cents each so i bought 10 to help with nitrates. I wish now i had bought more as i would like to make a dense forest background. I was thinking i could use eggcrate to secure them and set them so the fish can swim in and out and between the roots.

Not the best pictures from my phone but you can at least see how my tank turned out. What do you think ? Maybe change the rocks ?

I went with the Leslies pool filter sand, i thought it looked too light at 1st but once the decor was added it turneed out to be ok. I have been looking for some weathered rocks that i saw somebody on here had used, called Kingston weathered stone. If anyone knows a supplier then please let me know.
