Also, what have you read on monitors? There's a lot of bad information out there, so let us know where you've read about them so that we can steer you away from said bad information.
Hey I completely understand not being swayed away from what you really want. If you feel your ready for it good luck. But when they are trying to encourage another species, its for a reason. It is fully possible for you to get the Timor and everything to go fine for you, but that is one hell of a learning curve. I know what you mean by experience, we all need to get experience somehow. If I wanted a venemous snake, Im certainly not going to start with something that will kill me in 15 minutes. Kingsnakes are not hard to care for, but I still wouldnt recommend it as a first snake for the simple fact that they tend to be unhappy angry creatures lol. Even if you dont like the easier species, it is best to own an easy one to get a feel for how to care for lizards before owning a complicated species. There is alot that you can learn from an easy species that will greatly help you in the future. Such as: best way to keep proper humidity, how to properly feed, how to handle etc. It softens the learning curve and will be better for you, and your future pets!
I completely understand, that's why you need to ignore it. I see a lot of people come and go, I hope you stick around, learn and grow!
