Softy, those do look like proteus. I also have a pair of those, which spawned a couple of weeks ago. They are great fish! Are yours behaving together or fighting?

They were doing fine with each other, but the convicts didn't like the new male.
So I switched him into his own tank so he could beef up a bit. And three weeks later he kicked the bucket :( . He was kind of beat up when I got him but I thought he was gonna make it. I am looking for another male becuase my female won't have any other females in her tank. I tried a few times with different females, but she wouldn't have it.

Yours spawned you said, thats awsome. That is my goal with these guys. Are the fry doing all right? I would like to hear your exp. with these fish.

Heres a little update of my female C. proteus. Her color change has been amazing so far.

first pic is from about 3 months ago

Thanks bro. I can't wait till I put up the divider and introduce the new male (l learned what can happen crenicichla are introduced). He's healthy and strong. About the same size as the female, so we'll see what happens. I'm hoping they'll like what they see.

Yeah, it got pretty crazy last time I tried. Both of the fish looked awsome, the best colors I seen them show was when they were fighting. I was to excited to grab the camera though. :swear:
