I've been using Prime for a while now but I keep hearing things about it that makes me paranoid. Like when my clown knife died for an unknown reason, someone on here asked if I was using Prime and that it does things to clown knives or something. Then I just read on here that Prime kills beneficial bacteria. This also seems plausible because my tank that has been established for over a year still has fairly high ammonia readings despite regular water changes.

So I'm just wondering what everyone else uses and if I get enough people that use Prime without a problem I might just stick with it but if a lot of people use something that looks like it might be better, I'll switch.

Sodium Thiosulfate :) Buy a bag of crystals from a local breeder for 3.00 and mix it up myself.. :) LAsts for on or above 20000 gallons :)

I do not use any chemicals to treat water. For small water changes I simply fill up a rubbermaid and put a powerhead in for about an hour or so. For large water changes I fill up a rubbermaid, add a powerhead, and a small AquaClear stacked with carbon to remove chlorine and chloramine.

none, supply water generally uses unstabilised chlorine as its not exposed to uv light. Sunlight and UV light will remove chlorine if it bothers you, generally the fish dont care. I would be more concerned about adding chemicals of a secret formula and not knowing what voodoo juice is in the bottle.
