I might be wrong but I think the 2 pics show slight differences. Both Scombs probobly but the tail fin and back lines are different. The yellow finned ones reportedly come from a different place than typical scombs.
There is a big controversy over these yellow finned "halloween" scombs.
I might also be wrong here too but from what I understand Scombs never hit a foot. I have no doubt that these new "halloween" scombs will but the older ones were notorious for dying at a premature age much before the legth of a foot.
Regardless nice little monsters. They should easily handle rosies at that size. I have a pair of 4 inchers that easily go through 30 a week.
I for one am VERY interested to see what these yellow finned "haloween" scombs turn out to be..........
They are very cool little fish...I can't wait till they get big! They definitely have yellow fins, so are they these Halloween ones you speak of? I'm doing as much reading as I can. Within a year from now I will have a 200-300 gallon tank for them to go into, so they should get huge.

Nice pickup! One of my LFS's has a couple of these payara for sale for $60 ea. They are about 6-7". They labeled them as "freshwater barracuda". I can't remember where, but I saw a vid of a 16 incher eating an 8" koi! Huge teeth on that sucker!
The whole halloween thing is kind of a joke....LOL It's just the easiest way to describe these scombs since they look different than normal scombs.
It would be awfull nice of you to give them that much room but I don't know if they'll need it. They won't get over a foot. (Scombs seldom hit 12 inches)
The video of the 16 incher is most likely an Armatus. Won't be seeing any of those for sale unless something drasticlly changes. From my understanding there are very few in the country (rumored to be less than 20) and no more coming in. I guess the country they come from closed ports.
