What did I do wrong?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry to hear that classic-chasis.

1. I have used melachite green before: on aros (with scales) and on my RTCs. Follow the instructions for use. It will kill all the plants (so you might wanna take them out).
2. Heaters are widely availalbe in Laos and in Thailand. They are used to treat sick fish. I use heaters in all but the largest aquarium (to be changed this winter). I don't unplug my heaters even in summer. They do regulate temperature by ensuring it does not fall suddenly (i.e before rains and all that).
3. your problem could be just as Brian said due to a phase or due to some tap water issues - i assume you use water conditioner.

Good luck bro

PS: sorry for loach lovers but i would concentrate on your RTG - if you are worried then move the loaches out first

I'm going to look for a heater at weekend, It hasn't been an issue before but maybe it is now. Temperature is pretty constant in doors and all the windows near my tank are always closed.
yes, i age water and treat with white crane declor. I can't do anything until weekend but I'll look for some meds that won't harm the CLs if i can first.

Water is clean as i suspected, Total Ammonia NH3/NH4....0 Nitrite <0.03mgl. PH 7.5
Tonight it doesn't seem to be any worse but it doesn't seem any better either. The fish is still trying to bite its tail as if somethings bugging it but it can't quite reach it which is positve.
like i wrote earlier i put 2 cups of salt in and it's 200gal, that's enough right?
Do you only add more salt on the next water change and do you add enough only for the water you take out? I'll see how it goes for a few days.
Ctoychik regardin heaters, i think i'm going to get a thermomiter and check the temps for a week because TBH i'm more worried about temps going too high than low here, it's pretty hot all the time. I have an AC unit in my bedroom which tells me the current temp, i very rerely switch it on but it often reads 34-6 when i do and that's usually when i can't stand it anymore. I live in a concrete box!

If anyone is interested. Salt seems to be helping. Other rips appeared but as Bedrick pointed out i think these were from the tail chasing and biting.
The fish has stopped biting and chasing, the original rip is now starting to heal. I am going to do a water change tomorrow and add more salt.
