What did you do the last time you got bored in this hobby???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
pretty much just a change of anything, usually decor, sometimes other things. i get bored of the status quo and like change, so thats all it usually takes.

i was pretty bored up until a few weeks ago and changed some stuff and i'm back in it. i want to give a big THANK YOU to this site for keeping my interests going and higher than ever (found this site doing some research in my search to gain back some interest)

Very nice....either tank would look impressive either way you decided.....

thanks, planted might be the way I go. Still doing the reasearch. Cheaper than a saltwater reef setup...:nilly:

i sold most of my tanks but kept 1 or 2 of the larger aquariums. that's where i'm at now and going to try my hardest not to end up with a bunch of smaller aquariums ever again.

try breeding set ups for the fish.
change the decor etc.
That's what i've done in the past.
This site helps 'cause your still always learning which keeps you happy with the hobby- I'll doubt I'll ever get out of it though.

davo said it perfectly...breedings always new and exciting cuz theres always fish that youve never bred before and changing the decor kinda makes you feel like you got a whole new tank

Bred a difficult fish that did not take a lot of room, the Desert Pupfish (Cyprinodon macularius) now, but not then, an endangered species.
Interesting project involving rapid water condition changes and extremes that would kill most fish.

L - Ive got my interest :) Care to elaborate sir?

I redecorate, buy 1-2 new fish, or like recently, sell off all my fish and buy an electric eel that i kept for 2 weeks, sold and but more fish again. I like to leave room for new fish so when i do get bored, i can go fish shopping

Pup fish need alkaline hard water that rapidly gets worse as you don't change the water or top off evaporation levels, you also increase the temp over a period of a week or so from low to mid 70s to low 90s. Feed lots of brine shrimp and mosquito larvae. when about 1/2 the water has evaporated you top off the tank with cool (70-72F) pH neutral or lower water, This will drop the temp of the tank to high 70s and the pH from around 8.4 to closer to 7.2. They fish should start spawning within 24 hours.
