What do baby tire track eels eat?

I've never seen/heard of any instance in which the fish just starved itself to death because it decided the food wasn't good enough.
I'm sure you are a much more experienced eel keeper than I am, but isn't that a fuzzy boundary? I've heard of moray eels dying unless given live food. Maybe they cannot register food unless it's alive and squirming?

That would go under the "wrong type of food" category. Yes, certain species require specific types of food, but if a fish can recognize something as food, it will eat it if it has to do so to survive, which is why starvation is the most common method of weaning fish onto new foods.
