Pellets as soon as you can, and then supplement the pellets with scuds, crickets, bloodworms, baby fish frozen,live, or freeze dried.

I've kept a few through the years. Mine have eaten what my Oscars ate if that tells you anything. Good quality pellets and bugs, frogs, shrimp, peas, lots of stuff. A good dry food should be the staple tho.
