This is gospel. a not so local lfs got in three. I bought one and put it in my "planted" (ok algae) tank. It is thriving. One of theirs has already died and the third looks to follow soon. I may just pick it up before they kill it. Mine picks at various foods I feed the tankmates but the algae is definitely primary. if you really can't go there, I'd try some of the other good suggestions, and maybe some seaweed? and make certain the tank is well covered, those guys fly! Mine loved algea, algea waffers, shrimp, tilapia, massivore, plankton, kitchen sink, garbage disposal, and I'm sure he would of ate the cats if they fell in the tank...

Yep. My guys will try just about anything too. However, they love their Hikari massivore, sinking cichild pellets, algae wafers and random chunks of shrimp and fish. However, if I throw in some veggie, they go after that too.

Mine took a few days to start eating with everyone else. He'll eat anything that goes in. Loves the blanched squash that I throw in for the plecs.
Try Nls Therma AAAA plus. This food has a good portion of garlic in it which acts as an appetite reactent.
