haha... i have to admit ..sounds delicious..

Because they are currently in a 75 gallon tank, I suggest that you just feed them pond pellets. Pacu are long-lived fish and can live 30+ years in the right environment. Most pacu in small tanks do not live very long (many die around 2 years old). I am convinced it is because of poor water quality. It is very difficult to keep nitrates low in a small tank with big pacu. It is really fun to feed pacu different things, but this can very negatively impact nitrate levels. I've posted fun videos of my pacu eating...I call them my garbage disposers, because they will chow down on anything we throw in the tank. I discovered throwing in lots of veggies will result in increased nitrates in our 300 gallon tank. We no longer throw veggies in the tank, except on rare occasions. The water would swirl with bits of vegetables, and all that veggie waste resulted in increased nitrates. There is a lot less food waste in the tank when they eat pellets. Here are our pacu feasting on potato "chips". Notice all the food debris in the water.

They fought over and devoured a whole carrot in short order

I love Leonardo's jaw action (you can hear him crunch) as he finishes off the carrot

It's great entertainment watching pacu eat, but for us, it's not worth doing a massive water change the next day to get the nitrate low.

got any pics of them? are they red or black? i feed mine pond pellets and fish fillets with the rest of my fish, and i have a bowl of grapes that is there just for my pacu and 2 of my oscars (the other 39 fish wont eat them)

just asked cause ive had really bad luck with blacks, had 3 of them die, and i have been able to raise my red from the size of a quarter to the size of a large dinner plate. which one did you give away?
