I have a 7'x2'x2' 220gal tank, and i was thinking about buying 2 fluval FX5's but i have noticed alot of people doing sumps. anything will help me out here guys/girls!?!?!? Thanks:nilly: BTW i will have 4 oscars, 4 pbass, 1 cat, 1 common pleco...

Sumps are cheaper to build that buying 2 FX5s and can do a really good job of filtering your tank.

Let us know if there is something in particular you would like to know.

wet-dry system if you have a lil time on ur hands to build something magnificent...and save some $$

2 FX5's would be the easiest and probably draw less electricity too!

Canisters always use the least amount of power.

You could get away with a 50 gallon sump on that tank. Make sure the volume of bio media is around 47 liters.

A couple Fx5 will filter that tank good.

Is a wet/dry system worth doing with a 125? Or is it cheaper just to go canister or hanging style?
i built a w/d for my 75 and had it running perfectly till my room mate decided it was making too much noise and thought it was a good idea to play with the pvc and spilt about ten gallons of water all over the kitchen floor.

I know this is an older thread, (about a month) but that tank will be WAY overstocked! The 4 oscars take up that much space themselves!!!!!

First off... Welcome to the "King of the dead thread" Compitition... But at least you know your doing it :D

Second... have you ever looked around on this site... You'll find Oscars in 10 gallons around here  That 220 will be fine for quite awhile with the right filtration (Going dual FX5's is great and so it a nice big Sump BTW... if you can find a decent pump for the sump you'll not draw as much power as 2 FX5 but prob not by much)

The main question here... (since I'm a catfish guy)... What is the 1 cat that your putting in there?

If you're the kind of guy who doesn't mind building something and then fiddling with it, build a diy wet/dry. If you want something that runs silent and you don't want to mess with it and tweak it, then go with the fx5's.
