you shouldn't really compare the two, FX5 pulls water from the column and is a way better filter for bits of crap floating about. The sump/trickle/wet-dry is more geared toward simply bio because it would normally be run by pulling water from the surface (skimming) it leaves most of the "floaties" in the water column.
