I wll be leaving to school in september, for about a year and half.I got a 135gal with my arro in it,I cant seem to sell him...So I think I'm going to have to upgrade tanks before I leave. If I get the 240 for him will he be ok for life in there? If so,What kind of filter should I get to clean it for three months,I get a week off every three mouths.

The tank cannot go three months w/o maintenance. You will need to have somebody check in him every couple of weeks.

240 should be okay for life i think and a wetdry would prob be the best.. to be honest you might wanna add plants to the sump to clean up nitrates... which would help, but some maintenance will be required

You will have to add water to the W/D you would get enough evaporation to stop the flow.

I'm assuming the fish will be staying with your family and they can do the basic day to day care? Feeding and partial water changes and top ups etc.

If thats the case then a big wet/dry sump should be OK for the 3 months without being touched.

This is all assuming you have someone with a few clues to fish sit for you.

Cheers

i would say at the very least 300 for life, esp for a silver or black.

What do u guy think about canister filters.....like a FX5 and a EHEIM 2260?
If I find a tank set up for a wet and dry I will go with that, but if not I think a canister would be good!!!

canisters also need maintenance

I know that, but can it go for three months bofore needing to change filters?
A guy told me that he changes his 2260 every 5 months!!!
