i don't think this is a very good thread. This is why people get discouraged from saltwater, because "know it alls" say saltwater is harder. When in many areas its a lot easier. Some aspects of it are harder and require more attention. I think such a simple classification of the hobby is ridiculous, and your never going to get a correct answer.

saltwater maybe seem more harder just because there is more chemistry involved.........i personally would prefer a saltwater reef tank such as my 75 gal cause i believe there is more going on if ya know what i mean......
i think in someways saltwater looks nicer. and you would think people would keep saltmore, cause there is more monsters in the ocean.
Well, I chose sw, but mainly because of the amount of equipment/money required. I really don't think either of them are that difficult, my dad was able to keep a 135g sw tank running for years (and he never really knew that much about fishkeeping other than the basics, like the the importance of w/c's, selecting compatible fish, very basic knowledge of the nitrogen cycle, etc.) so it can't be as hard as so many people claim it to be.
