5' X 4' can give you more options on stock

Generally I would say 8 by 2 but it depends on what your keeping.

8X2 sounds nice if its a display type tank and you got other wider tanks...

But the 5x4 really opens up some options as far as large fish goes...

Hmmm .. unless you were going for a huge discus or altum setup or maybe piranha I'd go for the 8ft .. I'm sure you could do an amazing display with 48" deep but it'd be a bugger to clean if not bare bottom

Id personally go for the 5x4. You'd have more options with fish.
