What do you all think of the texas Cichlid

I'm not a big Texas Cichlid fan because I'm in Texas and so they don't seem exotic to me...it's just a local fish. Other than that, they're pretty cool and I think you'll enjoy having them. Post some pics when they get settled in.

Personally I like them. They dont get as big as some of the other cichlids out there like Trimac and RD's. I have a small pair right now. Only 2-3 inches. I have had some in the past that got between 6 and 8 inchs in length. The silver color was awesome on them.

I like Texas Cichlids! They have Nice Colors!

i like texas cichlids. like a jack dempsey sorta...and they'll breed pretty easily. i think i'll pick one up if i find somewhere to put my rescued oscar that seems to have stopped growing at 6 or 7"

I like the patterns on them. On a side note, only big mature males have nuchal bumps, and even then they're not impressive. Use the flowing fins, colour, attitude, vent etc to try and sex them at the LFS.

I don't care what anyone says Texas Are AWESOME. They are great cichlids and can be extremely colorful. Any Herichthys fish is GREAT! IMO though the nuchal humps are impressive to me. I mean they aren't bubbles like RD's but they go straight into the back which is even more appealing to me.

yep i think texas cichlids are cool. very pretty. If u can get a red texas i like them even more.
