What do you all think of the texas Cichlid

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Texas cichlids are great looking fish, they can be very agressive though. my Texas beat the sh*t out of my GT and my JD and the Texas was like half their size.

I had one in a cichlid tank with one oscar, dempsey, pair of convicts, auratus etc. and it ate so much food it died. I got another one and exactly the same thing happened, has ANYONE EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM OR ONLY ME?

I personally don't like their shape. When they get really big they look like fat dinner plates and it simply doesn't appeal to me. They have nice colors and everything but I could never imagine keeping one. I know escondidos stay a bit more streamlined than cyanogutattus but I'm just not crazy about either.

I really like texas cichlids esp the escondito although as of now no one in my local petstores carry any.

I like mine, just be sure to pick a good one.

AHHHH!!! NO!!! Escondido's are not texas cichlids at all. Never think this it is bad lol. Escons are Carpinte in which is a different species in the Herichthys family. LOL Bigriver you should know this. :D

Carpinte are commonly referred to as "green" or "blue Texas". Although they don't naturally occur in texas they look close enough to an actual Texas to be mistaken for or referred to as one.
