rather be poor and happy then rich and miserable.

i agree with this, I would rather live in a crappy house and be dirt poor than be rich and loose the respect of my kids and my wife. I was talking with a friend and he believes that he will triumph over everyone because hes strong and will cheat his way thgouh life, so I was talking to him for about an hour and I just dont see how people can be like this. I dont understand how people can cheat others in life and be happy. I mean yea it is probably nice to have money But I see being a success as being a good father, husband, person and being there for people when they need you. Having a little money dosent hurt either.

He talks about how he is going to prove to everyone that he will meet his goal how ever he can, and I dont understand why people should have to prove themselfs to others. I'n my mind the only person I have to prove myself to his me. And when I reach my goal of getting out of collage and getting a good job, and being able to have fun with my kids and wife and be there for them Than I will be happy. But he will be alone with money ( which he thinks is fine).

Idk I just dont get some people. but thats life

No.. you don't have to walk all over people and cheat your way through life to become a success.. but I think to be successful you need to have firm responses to people that try to walk on you or cheat you in order to further themselves... stay strong in who you are and what you believe and that show of strength will win you respect and success in life... good luck!

You don't have to lie, cheat, or steal to be succesful. But if you're wanting to be self-employed, you will have to step on some toes and piss some people off.Intentional or not.

Correct

It is a good question all of us should reconsider more than once in a lifetime.

I believe that every human being is egoistic, selfish, self-adoring and whatever might be defined badly in a moral view.

But from a biological point of view we could not survive if we were not like that.

Taking part in a social structure only means to take the advantage of being hidden in the crowd.

BUT I also believe that anyone can consider himself being egoistic basically and find a respectful way to arrange himself with all the others.

To be rich you have to be the best at what you do. Or you have to make people believe you are the best at what you do.

And hopefully a lot of people actual need/want your service.

Josh said it perfectly for me. Thanks Josh.

Kinda for me as well.

I'm a firm believer that success in life in business is based on luck and who you know, followed by hard work later.

Of course you can have success outside of business with just hard work, and luck and who you know plays a little role in that.

I belive in the golden rule [due unto others as they would due unto u] so as a christian when i break this rule i get punished 10x's over because i know better. The bible calls it reaping what u sow and buddhist's call it karma bombs but however u call it if u lie cheat and steal your way to the top u will pay for it in this life or in the afterlife what goes around comes around it's really that simple.:grinno:

Hustle, Hustle, Hustle. Dip your hands into anything you can. I'm 21 and now own a business..Hustle hustle hustle. Network also, if you are in a position where you deal with alot of rich people..get on their good side. If you ever do feel like changing your occupation you will always have these people to take you in under their wing.

When I read this thread, it got me thinking. I played "Mr. Nice Guy" for 10years at my job. I didn't get anywhere. I started to think that nothings going to change unless I change. I became more aggressive, took more control, spoke up if I didn't like something, and pretty much became a bigger ***hole. I got the results I wanted for the most part. I do feel bad sometimes, but it's also about being selfish. You want to be rich and successful, you have to be aggressive, selfish, and an ***hole. I'm not sure if anyone has heard of Tom Leykis, but he's preaches to treat girls like crap cuz in the end, you'll get laid and be aggressive and an ***hole of a boss at work cuz that's how you become successful. I'm naturally a nice guy, but the more I break away from that, the more girls I get and the higher level I get at work.
