This thread was born through a PM conversation I had with another ray owner.

What do you consider a QTed ray?

We all have our own personal and prefered QT time and method, so whats yours? Do you like meds? Salt? Temp change? etc?

Do you ever ask a seller if their ray is QTed? If they say "yes" do you ask what their QT procedure is? If its not what you would like do you wait even longer or go ahead and buy, Qing them yourself, risking a possible ray death?

 Thoughts?

(try the extra salty butter flavor) curious to see some answers here... ill keep the rest to myself and save you the edit ....

ill post a answer here by the end of the week ;)

Shall I start a joke thread and ask, how many ray owners does it take to answer a thread?

LOL

30 day of isolation in a system with no other fish (minimum). During this time we also acclimate the animal to our conditions, get it eating well, etc.

2 doses of prazi 10 days apart

examination of 3 fecal samples (samples at least a week apart)
-> if fecal samples are positive for nemotodes (or cannot collect a fecal sample) deworm with panacure (first choice) or levamisol orally- 2 doses, 2 weeks apart. go back to examination of fecal sample step <note- we are not looking for a 'sterlie gut so whether deworming is warranted is a judgement call based on many things including but not limited to: body condition of the ray, abundance of nemotodes in the sample, source of the animal>

transponder before leave Q so that we will always be able to keep track of the individual.

if there are other items that arise during the Q period they are delt with.
