What do you consider a QTed ray?

30 day of isolation in a system with no other fish (minimum). During this time we also acclimate the animal to our conditions, get it eating well, etc.

2 doses of prazi 10 days apart

examination of 3 fecal samples (samples at least a week apart)
-> if fecal samples are positive for nemotodes (or cannot collect a fecal sample) deworm with panacure (first choice) or levamisol orally- 2 doses, 2 weeks apart. go back to examination of fecal sample step <note- we are not looking for a 'sterlie gut so whether deworming is warranted is a judgement call based on many things including but not limited to: body condition of the ray, abundance of nemotodes in the sample, source of the animal>

transponder before leave Q so that we will always be able to keep track of the individual.

if there are other items that arise during the Q period they are delt with.

In regards to fecal matter examination, can the average ray owner even do such an examination?

i treat for 7 days with metronidazole with daily water changes. then i wait a week and treat with proazipro. then i keep the ray isolate for the rest of at leat a 30 day period and even longer if the ray isnt eating the same foods at the rays in the tank the ray will go into.

My protocol is very similar to what Erica posted.
30 days minimum...regardless. Hit them with prazi or formalin. Panacur to deworm if needed. 3 fecals to clear Q and hit the exhibit. I photograph the animal and chip them if I can (That part depends on the facility.)

It may not be realistic for some, but it helps me sleep better at night :D

I do 30-45 days. Different room, nets, hoses, feeding instruments, etc. I do not medicate unless necessary but I see that it is good practice and likely will in the future.

My only interest in a seller QT-ing is to know if the Ray is stable/eating, it does not negate my need to QT from my stock.

Again, can the average ray keeper even do this?

Is there a ray phoo test kit I dont know about? :D
