I've seen the occasional dead fish in a tank or two in my LFS. I usually don't say anything. those guys don't seem to care too much about FW fish. I'm always interupting their conversations about coral and inverts. maybe I should try to get a pt job there. I don't profess to know everything about fish, but I do know enough to check the tanks, take out dead fish, and find the reason they are dying/unhealthy.

this is the only specialized fish store in town. then there's petsmart, and pet supermarket.

they have no selection, and are more expensive than my LFS.

:iagree: We must go to the same place! Thats why i starting buy fish from
MFK vendors only.

I'll bet you are thinking of Fishy Business. They always have unhealthy fish.

For what it is worth, never rescue a fish from a crappy lfs. You are just rewarding the bad lfs when you could buy from someone who at least cares.

True to an extent, but even if rescuing a fish is going to mean another one takes it spot in a bad store, you're still doing some good. Human emotion works in strange ways, even at first sight you can get attached to a distraught little bugger, and while it may reward the LFS with a few dollars, the satisfaction in nursing back a fish to full health is what it's all about.

I don't do anymore impulse saves. So only if I have proper room for the fish, would I pick it up and save it.

So far fairly split. And think this is from the people that know better. (Of course I am assuming all of you at least have q-tanks you could use.) Well I guess this shows how business can get away with things like this. (IE if the informed people know what they are getting into and are still willing to buy it, then just think of the traditional buyers...)

kick yourself for going in a store with a reputation for having bad fish

I'd rather wait and look for a reputable petshop or fish breeder. supporting those kind of shops would mean continued suffering for the fishes. Let their business close down when no ones buying from them anymore.
