so i just got my first silver aro couple days ago, and ive put in some floating pellets and sinkers but he wont touch it, all though i did toss in a peice of talipia and eat the crap outta it... store i bought it from said they fed them pellets... so would it be possible he isnt hungry enough ? or just stil trying to settle in my tank ? he is much more calm and less jumpy today then he was when i first brought him home...

do you have to pellet train these guys like you do with peacock bass ?

How big is he? I started mine on small floating pellets when I got him at about four- five inches. About a year and a half later he's a thick 18 inches and devours Massivore Delite and Carnisticks along with some silversides. I would try frozen silversides over tilapia if it won't take pellets. Whole fish is better than just muscle as it eat whole fish in the wild.

he is around 6-8"....guy at the store said he was feeding him pellets... would he just be settling in a bit before trying pellets ? how long can he go before starving ? like is it a good thing to try and not feed him till he eats pellets ?

Fish can take long periods of time between feeding with no adverse health problems. Remember in the wild food is not always readily available so I wouldn't worry about a fish going off feeding unless the time period was an extended one. I personally fed my Silver Aro sticks with no problems, they accepted it readily.

well only food i have here are some talipia some NLS 4.5mm floaters, tetra carnivor sticks, bloodworms, and some cock tail shrimp... all though i would like him to just eat pellets as then meaty food he will eat during a treat....

so should i give mine talipa with NLS pellets shoved in it ? or just keep feeding the pellets and see if he eventually starts taking them ?
