Hey just wanted to see what you guys use out there. mines is a pig, market shrimp, MW, feeders basically anything my aro eats.

I stopped feeding live feeders to my gars. They're tropical gars and I don't want these rare species to risk getting parasites/diseases. I feed mine arowana sticks, crickets, FD krill/plankton, and raw shell-on shrimp.

i agree with you about the live feeders i should really stop. just that my dat would starve hiimself for days, the only damn thing he eats is feeders. i got him at 2 to 3 inches and he wont eat anything but live feeders. i guess i should starve him for a couple of weeks. hopefully he can change his eating habbit.

So far just non fancy guppies. I just baught him though and he's on with his first feeders here, in time I would try others.

Gars have a extrodinary immune system, I have added feeders many times in the past that I later found out had ick, not once did my Gars get any signs of ailment. I am more carful about where I get my feeders now to avoid any complications, but for the most part feeders should be good. You could always get a 55 gallon tank to house and treat any feeders for sickness, also being isolated will give you the chance to make sure thier diet is up to par so that you are sure that your Gars are getting all thier nutritional needs.

I personally feed my gar collection a varied diet of many different foods. The staple foods are pellets, food sticks and frozen whole fish or cut filets but I also feed them just about anything and everything I can think of. Gars do best and thrive best on a varied diet that does not consist only of feeders or just any one food item. I however only feed my gars live fish if they are culls from one of the other tanks in the room or from an ocassional bait shop purchase.

Goldfish ain't on the diet and will not be. These potato chips should be avoided as gar food IMO.

If the goldfish are healthy from a varied diet then they should be good. When I feed my 200 gallon tank I am concerned with the diet of the goldfish, if they are getting everythying they need to be healthy then my Gars will be healthy. You are what you eat as they say.

so far eating aro pellets, dried shrimps and sometimes(very rare) beef heart. i slowed down on feeders. but i still throw some in here and there.
