What do you feed your L200?

More shots, can any one tell the sex? I think i've got all males, but the larger one (6.5" TL) has brighter spots than the two smaller ones:

Had a little feeding succes last night.

I offered a bit of sweet potato, romaine that had been frozen and thawed, and some zucchini.

I saw one of the plecs munching on romaine, but it didn't look like it ate any of it.

They did put a small dent in the zucchini with flesh exposed, versus the piece I added that didn't.

They also grazed the sweet potato a bit. Hopefully tonight they eat more :)

Good to hear! I went to the lfs yesterday and they had a nice green phantom for sale. I started laughing to myself. All I could think of was picturing it eating a steak for some reason.:grinno:

hahaha "nom nom nom, Meaty!, nom nom nom"

surprisingly they don't seem interested when there is shrimp or earthworms available in the tank. I even tossed in some meaty bloodworms and they didn't budge.

All Joking aside, that is probably just as well. What I was trying to get at with my first post is that they can have some protien, but as the main diet you will want to feed them mainly veggies. Do you have them with your polys? If so keep an eye on them sucking slime coats. Does'nt always happen but it can. If they are with the polys please keep me informed on how it works for you. I have an ornate in a grow out right now and I've thought about adding him to one of my other tanks but I've got plecos in all of them! If I dont get the nerve to try it I might have to get rid of him and I dont really want to!

Yes I have them with my polys. So far it seems like the activity of the bichirs makes them a bit nervous, but I am well aware of the risk of keeping them together.

From what I've read, that's mainly a concern for loriis that haven't been fed enough, so hopefully they take to the veggies full force in the next couple days, and even start taking the shrimp to keep them full.

I will keep you posted on how they do with the polypterus, thank you for the help wing!

my group of 10 L200's go crazy over spirulina waffers, algae waffers, sweet potatoe and zucchini. Very rarely do they ever get any meat, the meat they do get is in a spirulina meat waffer from kensfish.com which they really do like.

They may take a bit to get used to the foods. I recently put in a group of 6 x L128's all 6-8" and they have taken about a week to start eating properly. Keep offering greens and they'll do great for you.

Thank you for the feedback CanadaPleco!

Here's a question.

I have plenty of caves for them to claim but they don't seem to hide, they sit out in the open, and don't really swim away when I get close to them.

Is that normal? Sometimes they display to each other, but for the most part, they stick together just like in the pics.

It could just take some time for them to get fully acclimated. I had an L-114 that did not move from the same spot for almost 2 days when I first got him. And as far as them swimming away from you, some are fairly docile until you actually touch them. And then some of them like my biggest L-114 will actually fight back and try to hold his ground!

Update: These guys are very very outgoing! Today I left the lights on and they weren't phased, so they must be hungry.

The largest one pigged out on blood worms so he didn't jump on the veggs.

One thing I noticed that the 'freezing' method for making romain softer, it didn't work. They didn't eat much of it. But when I put it in raw, look what happened:
