I just wanted to know what people are feeding their rds, and why you choose to feed them whatever it is you feed them. Cool thanks.

Daianichi,haraki,feeders,bloodworms... Good source of protien easy to digest great for colors and fun to watch
Do you use those nasty store bought feeders or do you raise them yourself? Man i didnt know it would be fun watching my fish eat feeders until i bought a couple of ghost shrimp

yea i had 1 or 2 jump out of my net and behind my tank out of reach... i felt kinda bad..... I fed mine some from the stores i can trust... then i take a few and breed them. I'm trying to breed some convicts and feed the babies.. thats what alot of ppl been doinYeah i breed convicts and i have fed my other fish some babies but i feel kinda bad since i put all the time raising the cute little fry just so thry can get thrown into a tank to get ripped to shredds and eatin, but man my jack and rd went crazy, they loved em! yeah one of my ghost shrimp jumped under my light and i didnt notice until the next day, poor little guy. Any how he still made a nice power-glo roasted snack for my rd.
My RD mostly gets fed on sinking Hikkari Gold pellets or brine shrimp pellets as he doesn't like to come to the surface to feed. I also have a breeding pair of convicts in another tank, and my wife sometimes breeds her bettas, so there's no shortage of live food for him or my other cichlids. I personally don't like feeding feeders especially as I've raised them up and always get excited when they hatch, but there's just too many not to. I reckon if I could get my firemouths to breed as quickly as the cons,I'd almost never have to buy fish food again, and with 11 tanks to feed that'd be a whole bunch of money saved.......hmm might be onto something here
There really isn't a whole lot of variation I guess... I feed mine a wide variety of the commonly available pelletized foods, and the occassional bunch of guppies leftover from my FW 'cuda.
I give mine minnows that i breed my self,and live crickets,and i also fee him krill and cichlid gold.
