Retired seven years ago and on a fixed retirement income. I paid my dues and could theoretically do/buy what I want now. However age and physical limitations are hindering me now. This week did a little wake surfing, but not nearly enough. The first day on the lake I tried to show a 16 yr old how to get up on a wakeboard. In the process (I forgot I was 71 and out of shape) I managed to tear some intercostal muscles which limited my wake surfing.

For those still in school, make sure you have a good job skill when you are finished with school. There are a lot of useless degrees out there that will never pay any bills...I know, because I have two of them. I finally went to dental school to get a marketable job skill.

Good to get out there!
If I may ask, what degrees did you do initially?

Zoologist. Specialty, land snails and slugs (Taxonomy, ecology, damage to agriculture)
Does that then fall under entomology? I have a contact who does similar locally, it's a cool field!

BA in Biology. How is that even possible? I thought biology was a science.
Master of Public Health degree in health administration.

Was actually working on a third useless degree--doctor of health science, when I took a leave of absence with 8 units to go. I realized that the only job skill I had was typing. I decided I need a job skill where I didn't have bosses telling me what to do. I started typing right out of high school, and typed during vacation time from college...it didn't sit well with me that I had to take orders from people who had much less higher education than I did...type this, file that.... Dentistry provided me with a job skill where I could make my own decisions.

marketable job skill is the key
