BA in Biology. How is that even possible? I thought biology was a science.
Master of Public Health degree in health administration.

Was actually working on a third useless degree--doctor of health science, when I took a leave of absence with 8 units to go. I realized that the only job skill I had was typing. I decided I need a job skill where I didn't have bosses telling me what to do. I started typing right out of high school, and typed during vacation time from college...it didn't sit well with me that I had to take orders from people who had much less higher education than I did...type this, file that.... Dentistry provided me with a job skill where I could make my own decisions.

marketable job skill is the key
BA in biology? Now how in the world did that work? Good that you found something that worked for you.

I am trying to pick up as many skills as possible to get decent opportunities once my degree is done, it will probably be even more critical post-covid

Bump! What are all the MFKers doing for their hobby money? :D
I have been breeding and raising guppies to sell as adults. And I have been selling a small amount of plants.

I’m m also still working so I haven’t had to dip into my hobby money haha

It is called malacologist (malaco= mollusk related), but the equivalent to someone who does similar things with insects (Entomo= Insect-related).
Pretty cool! I am useless with mollusks, I have mostly went searching for ants with my brother who keeps them. Can identify most of the common genera and some common species. I still have a few years to decide what I want to specialise in

That's a good plan!

Senior Study Director/Survey Methodology.... Lately, much of my job involves crying when I see Betsy Devos' name on my publications.

I am not sure I want to share ...., a question too much exposing the mind....:naughty: I work with numbers, always have. I am in Finance and come from a heavy Math background throughout my life. I have been the busiest of my life during this coronavirus crisis, because the world is expressed in numbers and the current system is valued in numbers. All a I ever wanted to do is work with animals, help animals in any way I can. That's my passion, the closest thing at heart to me.

One thing my father advised me on (which I ignored) was to get into nursing. If I had done that, I would have had a good job skill which could have supported me through dental school. Literally, all I could do was type even after graduating dental school and waiting to take my board exams and get my license.

My grandfather told me "Never make your hobby your job." I have done that twice. While I lived in NYC providing custom aquarium installation and maintenance and as a licensed aircraft mechanic. I have worked on small general aviation aircraft, commercial airliners, and military cargo. Currently, I work for the greatest commercial aircraft manufacturer in the world.
I hold an associates of applied science in aircraft maintenance and a B.S. Cross-cultural studies with a minor in aviation. The degree literally is bs.

It would make sense that nursing helps. I am assuming dentistry became your main mission thereafter?

How did doing your hobby as a job work for you?

Currently working full time at a crematorium burning Covid-19 deceased.

Just doing my best to earn a crust, serving a useful purpose during the crisis and trying to avoid catching it.

At least I keep warm.
Slightly morbid but heartwarming nontheless
