What do you guys & gals think about me building a pond?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The fact that they raised chickens INSIDE THEIR HOUSE says that mold/humidity/wet carpet smell are the least of their issues.

Haha yea but i cleaned that room already and threw everything in there away and my dad raised chickens like 10 years ago!

A large humidifier is definitely a must, no matter how cold the basement is, the water will evaporate and it needs to go somewhere. You might also want to consider painting everything down there with mold resistant (ie bathroom or outdoor) paint. I would think that would help a bit.
I agree with meBNme about the carpet thing too. You don't want to hide any potential problems. Also, you could just build a large tank (acrylic or glass) instead of making it a pond. This way you could see your fish through the sides of the tank as opposed from only above the water line.

Yea my mom was already thinking about getting a couple of humidifiers so i'll tell her to go for it, also painting is a good idea...i'll look into that b4 i do anything else....wat im doing is im making the whole room a pond, it might sound crazy but this room is super small, its only about 8' by 6 1/2'. Also how much would that mold paint cost and where would i be able to find some?

Ok so i looked at the things that i would probably need and i made a list...let me noe if im missing anything:

1.Pond Liner(maybe cuz i had mine for over 2years)
2.Mold Paint
3.Styrofoam
4.Pond Heater
5.Pond pump
6.Homemade pond filter stuff
7.Dehumidifier

I already have wood and cardboard to place along the walls and floor jux to make sure.

this whole thread scares me...... the carpet on the walls started the fear. goodluck in your build. mold paint can be bought anywhere it is called kilz homedepot or something
