Lungfish is also a good choice, but stay away from any African species as they are unpredictable and might kill the bichirs or take a chunk of meat out.

A lungfish would be sweet.

From what I've seen and read lungfish are a bad choice for community tanks. The only possible exception is the Australian Lungfish and they're hard to come by in the hobby.

I keep my senegals with congo tetras and african butterfly fish at the moment, but both would eventually become expensive feeders for a full grown Ornate. My suggestion is Severums - nice size, temperment, and personality

I'm a cichlid keeper through in a through out.... BUT... when I bought my 125g from a person off craigslist, it came with 2 senegals and 4 (that's right, 4) fancy goldfish. How retarded is that????

Needlenose are not even a true gar species. They are characin.

well i kept a scomb with my 3 birchirs in a 55g for several months and never had a problem they actually hungout sometime the payara would get real low with him and chill! but thats just something i wanted to add...

along with the fact he said the fish where in a 90Gallon i was just stating about a scomb because the tat and armatus would eventually outgrow the tank. i believe the tat will, havent owned one so i havent done much research yet but i think they may get to like 24" possibly.

Got a 8" scomb before got death rolled by my 9" sene and 10" delhezi.
