what do you guys use to transport BIG dats?

Yeah I've received them in styro coolers inside a large bag. Make sure the bag is large enough so it can take the shape of the cooler, anything smaller and you'll have the risk of pucturing the bag. I've received some in two inches of water also, but they made it. Those first few dorsal spines are sharp and rigid and can go through a plastic bag like nothing. GL

this is what you need. i shipped a large 17 inch widebar in this and nothing. puncture proof!

yes styrofoam with a lid. tape the edges. there should be plenty of those styrofoam boxes because they use them to import fish.

in that case. i dont know. but not to derail your thread i heard there are gonna be breathable bags coming into the market soon. thats what i heard from a guy that works at a lfs i go to.

Styrofoam box-seal the edges with tape and half fill. Will wiegh a fair bit bit but is secure. I use a large plastic bag to put inside the bix and then fill with water.

I have had large dats that puncture the styrofoam box, when they feel stressed or threatened, they'll raise their spines and at the right angle, it can puncture the styro box.

Your best bet is a rubbermaid container, run a rubber oring or seal around the lid, tape it shut and check it in (unless you can do a carry on)
