For me it's when fish just die, but it's even worse when they die and you know it was your fault. The guilt leaves me depressed for days.

Oh, and free floating algae! I loathe free floating algae!

Also, poop and water changes. I'm up to my eyeballs in fish poop every weekend, instead of being out with my friends. And it gets pretty annoying after lugging a five gallon bucket back and forth 6 or 7 times.

What about you guys?

water changes irk me cus the buckets i use dont fit under my sink and i have to walk across the whole house to get to my tanks. i also hate when they die, my jack dempsey died yesterday, its depressing. but if the bad times didn't suck it wouldnt make the good times worth it

I know what I signed up for when I decided to create a fish environment. I don't hate any of it. Its rewarding. If there is one aspect I don't like it is losing a fish I am attached to.

The money, I am going into debt becuase of it. Huge monthly costs of food, filter media, water bill, heating, water conditioner. I am going to need to be getting another job soon, on top of 18 credit hours at Purdue.

I'm an idiot.

That does make sense. I, on the other hand, had no idea what I signed up for. My dad was a control freak, and once day when I was going to the pet store to buy a replacement heat bulb for the iguana (her name was Greeney and she escaped! :(:(:() he told me, "And don't be buying any more animals, like fish or something." So obviously, I brought home a fish. It turned out to be a Pacu. Four years later and she eats more than the cat does.

And yeah, if anything ever happened to my Pacu I'd be devastated.

Water conditioner is ridiculously expensive! I guess they can charge whatever they want since if you choose not to buy it your fish will probably die.

Oh! Also, when fish that were getting along so well suddenly start tearing each other apart, I wish there was something I could do (like a spanking or something) to keep the peace.

The thing I hate most about fishkeeping is not being able to keep the tanksizes I want. I live at home while going to college and we have a pretty small house with very awkward turns leading into our basement. Put together a mockup yesterday and found out that 180g I've been planning for the last couple months won't fit. (unless we completely invert it in a very small confined space to move it...) :irked:

Looks like I'm gonna have to go with a 120g till I move out.
