What do you hate the most about fish keeping?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There's nothing for me to hate. Things will happen naturally.;)

The cost and the unavailability of the fish you want. Also the cost of keeping the fish that interest you. I wish I could learn to like cichlids!:irked:

forgot to add this, also I hate not being able to legally keep some fish here in florida, like rays and some other really cool fish

I hate when I purchase a new lot of frozen blood worms and then forget to stick them in the freezer when i get home. Its just a waste of money and a stinky mess!

But mostly I hate the power bill. In winter they are just unbelieveable.

I hate stressing about buying more and more tanks. I often have too many fish in a tank, so I have to do the right thing and give them all a proper home. Buying all these 500 dollar aquariums for 20 dollar fish starts to get expensive. I'm a slave to my fish keeping addiction. Just last night I put a bunch of fish into one tank, inorder to get rid of them. I ended up having second thoughts and put them with another batch of fish. That overcrowded that tank, so I bought another 120 gallon tank this morning. I should have just gotten rid of 20 dollars worth of fish instead.

I hate that I had a breaker go in the middle of the night (reason still unknown), and I lost 19 fish that were worth about $1,000 (one was a NICE tigrinus). I loved these guys, and it just killed me. So, now I have battery powered back-up bubbler.

Everything else rocks though.

ive been doing this for over 20 yrs and ive had great success keeping, breeding, and raising fish. BUT some of my favorite species mystify me, no matter how hard i try with the water parameters. i.e. the gold nugget pleco and cardinal tetras.

ive tried both many times and they never make it more than a couple months max. the cardinals seem to die with a week or two.

fwiw, i just bought my first batch of cards for my planted tank. all 5 made it three days, then tonight one was spinning at the top. :irked:

frustrating!!

*Fish sickness
*Filter maintenance
*Problems with aquarium seals
*Not knowing how much a fish, that only eats with the lights out, is eating

running out of money and missing out the good deals.... or after buying one rare fish, then all of a sudden, a million smaller ones came in to lower the price ^^;;
