What do you have against your LFS?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
haha stotty, you tea fiend.

I like tea too. What's your brew of choice?

Let me tell you somethign, I'm angry just reading about your nice LFS that order you fish and make you tea. The local fish stores here in Spain ****ing suck, just a bunch of rude clueless spaniards.

The biggest fish/pet store in Madrid for instance, they even ship fish, they are quite a big company. I emailed them in Spanish if they could order me a bunch of fish. I listed a huge list, with scientific names and even the Spanish names that I knew.

They emailed me back simply saying "We only have the fish listed on the website".

Grrrrr. I emailed back "YES, I know you only have the fish listed on the website, I was asking if you could ORDER me some fish in, if they ever appear on your list. In England I can request a fish, and if it's on any of the wholesale or import lists they'll order it in for me".

And the mailed back "I@m sorry but we only have the fish listed".

ARGH!!!!!! F*ckers!!!

You guys don't know how lucky you are. And this f**king place doesn't even sell a silver arowana or a bichir. The most exotic fish they have is a jack dempsey or butterfly fish.

My saving grace is a great MFK member, zix, from portugal. I'm doing a deal with him, and collecting some fish from a depo in portugal.

my lfs only carries the regular fish youll see anywhere (monstly africans:swear:)) and when he gets a semi odball like a rtc or aro thats 3-4" it charges 50... ontop of that they charge 29cents per rosiered:swear:.... so i go to my not so local lfs 60 miles away.. lol

The LFS in moscow tried charging $70 bucks for a silver aro that was at the 2 inch mark! :screwy:

this post is taken from a thread that I started a while back entitled 'Fake Gobies'

---------------------------------

this LFS sold fake gobies

About a two weeks ago I sold a full hatch of baby convicts that still had their baby shape but had gotten their stripes. They were about 3 weeks old. I sold them to a LFS that I had never heard of, but they called me. Anyway, I couldn't take them over to the store that week, so I had a friend who knew the store do it. So, a week or so goes by, and then my friend calls me (this was yesterday) , he's all excited because there's a 2" zebra pleco going for $75 at that same store, and would I come look at it since he knows I've kept zebras. So, i go over, and I'm happy because I like to see zebras in the hobby. I get there and meet my friend, and he takes me to the pleco tank, points out the zebra, and lo and behold, it could be..... it might be..... it isn't, it's a royal instead. Keep in mind the store had it labeled as a zebra, and I don't think it was incidental, because I would have payed max $20 for what they were selling. So, my friend is all disappointed and we head for the front to tell the owner. I figure before we get there that i'll see what they did with my convicts, so I start reading the labels on the tanks, and no convicts.
I figure then that they sold them as feeders, so I ceck the feeder tank, and it has nothing but guppies. I start looking at the actual fish, and there they are...in a tank marked 'freshwater bumblebee gobies, $25 each'
So I chew out the owner, and he just keeps denying it . Finally, he offers me $200 to pay for the *gobies* that he bought . I'm like, look, they're CONVICTS I know, I sold them to you.
I took the money as his punishment, then called everyone I knew and told them never to buy from that store.
so, anyone else have any good counterfeit fish stories to offer?

i personally prefer a golden malty assam with cloves and cardamom, maybe nutmeg as well, but I'll go for a high end oolong (ping erh especially) and a ceylon silver tips white tea. Sadly, I also drink some tisanes, like moroccan mint with eucalyptus, or maybe hibiscus and rosehips with schizandra

tea and animals are pretty much my only hobbies

my lfs is good i even did my work experince there the only thing is need more selection live oddballs stingrayother than that great shop

mine does not carry oddballs only guppies, angel fish etc etc but he can order any think in, the only problem is i have to buy all of them eg. how much for a spotted gar?
they are £3.99,
I ll take one,
OK i have to order them in,
thats fine,
my minumum order is 23,
what does that mean,
you have to take them all,
WHY?
who else is gonna want them?
i think to my self well f**k you then
See that really pisses me off.

A new LFS just opened in my area. So far the freshwater selection sucks, and the owner is the only person working there, and he's a salt water specialist. But he's very cordial and has decent prices. I picked up a baby Jag for $1.99. The biggest LFS in Sacramento has everything you can imagine. It's also a half hour away, in the middle of Downtown Sacramento (read: TRAFFIC HELL!) and doesn't have enough employees. There's another one about 15 minutes away that is fairly big, has a decent selection, but keeps their fish and animals in horrible conditions. And I have yet to find an actual employee there in my 20 or so trips.

UUUHHHGGG, So many to tell, so little time............................ok I lied, I have plenty of time, lol, but I am having another lazy spell! I dunno, overall, I typically take anything a LFS tells me with a grain of salt. Usually when I am in there, I find myself correcting them, and either one of two things happen - 1. They swear they are right, even if it is something as rediculous as them trying to claim a frickin blue damsel as an angel hybrib!! Don't laugh, sad as that is - it happened LOL. So yeah, and then there is always number 2. They accept the info. usually with a gaping mouth, but overall good attitude, and then they change it. However I have had a few "#3" reactions, where I was actually told to leave because I was intentionally harming their business!! HAA! OK, whatever, LOL. I have yet to find a LFS that I have no issues with. I know they are out there, just not ones I have been to.

Over the years, I've only had to go to management once. At the 25th anniversary sale, I waited over 30 minutes in line waiting to check out.:turtle:

The young lass at the register was yakking on a cell phone while she was working!! As I got to check out
there were three customers that came back protesting their charges,,,,aaarrrrgghh!!!:swear:

Needless to say I visited the front office to air my discontent with her.:WTF:

Oh and BTW, this was the express lane...:angryfire
