My largest is about 40lbs on bare bottom tempered glass. Wasn't super flat so I took the "resting" side to some rough cement and took of any "sharp" protrusions.
I used egg crate for mine, but that was also because I had large fish and I didn't want the fish to possibly move the rock and make it fall and crack the glass.
