 blame it on mtv and text messaging, LOL

This kind of stuff drives me nuts. Acronyms are one thing. they serve a purpose and the military is so full of them that I get ASS (Acronym Saturation Syndrome). But all of this lol crap is just laziness and bad grammer.
What really annoys me too is that most of the time when someone text or messages me a "LOL" I really dont think they are actually laughing out loud. So then their liars too.

i try to avoid them but i tend to just do it without thinking when im in a hurry. it can get annoying when you cant even understand some sentences but the occasional lol doesnt bother me.

ugh, that thread was annoying. If i was a MOD i would've given infractions for all the stupid LOL posts but that's why i'm not a mod (thank the lord right?)

I like them and don't have a problem with them, they're no different then anything else in our society. Think about all the slang that has come and gone. Now imagine you're a foreign student attempting to learn the language. You're learning the literal meaning of the word and how to use them but notice people don't use them in the way they're meant.

IE. THAT'S WICKED!, get out!, Check out that Cougar, that's what she said, rick roll'd (ok, so the last part is a lil bit of a stretch but i just got rick roll'd on youtube!)

yeah you wouldnt last as a mod

slang is interesting how it comes and goes. im sure every culture has it. examples: bad, tight, sick, dope, filthy, clean, phat (some may think 'fat'), and lets not even get started on slang in the hip-hop culture :screwy:

So sad- it's like the whole world is turning into the people you see on "JayWalking" from the Tonite Show.
