What do you think about a barebottom tank with no rocks/driftwood for a IT dat tank?

I honestly like the look of the bare tank better than the tank with rocks and caves, although I like to add could drift wood inside the tank that would look natural. I choose not to put decoration in the tank for many reasons: fish will not get in a habit of hiding, more room in the tank, less chance of getting injuries if the fish get scares they cannot hit the rocks or cut themselves, easier to maintain.

there was a time when the keepers of the first zoos placed animals in plain cages. zookeepers eventually learned that zoo animals lived healthier, happier lives when placed in enclosures that resembled the animal's natural habitat.

I think I'm going to keep the barebottom set up and replace the lava rocks with driftwood. Would that be a good idea you think? I'm not sure, but I think driftwood is part of their natural environment more than rocks are. I'm also going to try taking out the fake plants based on your suggestions, thanks.

I have 1 baby IT in a 55gal. Bare bottom with only one piece of driftwood and a air stone. Stable as ever and doesn't seem stressed and is eating just fine
