In the city I'm in, we rarely get grown out fish, they all come as babies. I had plans to get a bigger tank but lack of financial power for the next while has kept me from doing so (in college, barely have time for a part time job) and he's outgrown my tank. I though he might be able to last in there another 6 mths until I can get a job, the other night he got caught up in a plant and freaked out to free himself, got a few good scratches and hit the top. I realized i might have to get him a new home. Hes my fav fish and hate to get rid of him but clearly I can't house him for the time being, a sad realization. So he's probably 16" and I think he's the handsomest clown knife in the world.... but I have no idea how much a ck that size is worth. I was thinking a million dollars:screwy: but everyone says no, soo if you guys could throw me a few figures I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

He really is a nice specimen. I've seen them at lfs that size for around 100.00 but maybe 50.00 through personal sale? supply and demand warrents price.

LFS prices are ludicrously higher than they should be. When I just bought my CK 4 days ago, I saw a 9" or so for $100 USD. I would think you could 30-50 USD easily for one as nice as that, maybe even more.
Like it was said - "Supply and demand". In order to responsibly get him into the tank size he needs, you just may need to sacrifice him for a very low price, though. Hopefully you won't have to, but he needs a bigger home.
He is beautiful, good luck finding him what he needs.

Nice CK.....Send him to hawaii with me...j/k great looking fish though:nilly:

Unfortunately, if you are looking for cash or credit (in our area) you are not going to get much. If you are willing to make a trade they are usually more generous. They will probably offer you 20 bucks.

Thanks for the compliments, he was a real find, 12 spots one side 13 the other, 2-3 years old, his markings fill up his whole body, I might have a deal lined up where I get a 10" fire eel and another ornate in exchange (and I could visit him), might take that but not sure if I want another ornate, they get huge and I've got 2. If anyone lives near me (north bay) and can pick up the feller I can definitely let him go for a great price, provided he's going to a better place, then it's like a grand.
It really sucks when these things happen, plan on getting a tank within the year but I've noticed he's getting stressed out now, i can wait but :( he can't.
