I add this product during water changes every three months or when nitrates are high. What do you think of it?

junk. nothing can substitue for a large waterchange when nitrates are high. I would save your money and just buy a good water conditioner like prime.. All nitrate removers are just cop outs for lazyness(I'm not calling you lazy though) just my opinion

Try changing your water more often and plants to get rid of nitrates ;)

If nitrates get high I ALWAYS change water often and add this product...Want to do whats best for fish even if it costs extra $$$.

dont waste your money on that just clean tank once a week or more and use prime..

prime is a water conditioner by seachem look it up on their web page. really good stuff.

thanks, I have used seachem prods before. I will check into it.

Howdy,

I agree with what has been said here. There is no substitute for water changes. EasyBalance specifically targets people who are too lazy to properly maintain a tank. (I don't mean this personal, I just state Tetra's business strategy and target group. Eworm, you seem too involved in the hobby to belong to that group!)

Therefore, I'd suggest to try more frequent water changes rather than pouring chemicals into your water ... ;) Whereas nitrates are a general indicator of reduced water quality, there are many more factors that play into the necessity of more frequent water changes. Most of these parameters cannot be measured by the general hobbyist, but if you have that opportunity: conductivity measurements are a far better indicator for water quality than nitrates. As a general rule, there is no such thing as changing too much water.
