What do you think of the tank combo?

I always thought that african and american cichlids didnt mix to well? Could be wrong

It really depends on the species you mix. I have always kept kribs with South American fish, and more recently I've mixed some Pelmatochromis nigrofasciatus with my South Americans. Both of these are examples of West African species, and some of them tend to be very New-World-cichlid-like in their behavior. Also, the water parameters are usually closer.

I once tried brichardi in a tank with some South Americans, but that was a terrible idea -- two little 2" brichardi paired off in a 150 gallon and dominated over half of that tank, leaving big acaras cowering on each end. As cute as they were, it was back to the LFS with them!
