what do you think of this for rays?

speaking about sand, any opinion about the sand they use for children playground (sand pit)? I think it's quite soft for the rays. I keep my ray in a bare bottom pond, was thinking of putting them in a tank with sand substrat for them to play hide and seek :D

im sure thats fine. i have seen people use it. i think pool filter sand it better tho. i just dont like light bottom tanks

i use play sand in my ray tank.
it's cost effective, soft, and overall a decent choice.
the only downside is the massive amount of washing you have to do on it, there is an absolute insane amount of dust. took forever to get it off and not have my tank cloudy.

as far as smooth stones, they could be ok. it negates a rays defense mechanism of burying itself and i have heard of a horror story or two of rays playfully tossing around the smooth stones and chipping/cracking aquarium glass with them. it's a risk i personally wouldn't want to take.

i would use sand but i dont like how it washes the fish out. i dont think any of these stones are big enough to do any damage to a tank. they are mostly about dime to nickle size pieces.
