what do you think of this stock for my BIG tank?

As long as the smaller species are the breeders and the larger fish aren't being bread you might be fine. Just have dithers, lots of hiding spots of all different sizes, and you should be ok if you raise them together. I honestly would leave the TSN(Large catfish) out. It will end up eating your smaller cichlids.

That won't help at all. I've seen a pair of 3" convicts terrorizing two 7" Oscars.

I understand with the breeding. If I go with the community set up, I won't have any breeding fish.

If I go with Dovii or Umbee, I'm going to have a breeding pair and a large cat.

Either plan sounds great.

My own personal option would be to go for the community setup, I can't help but love heaps of different medium/large cichlids in a big tank.

i wonder how big a tank would need to be to have a community with some large breeding aggressive cichlids, what do ya'll think the min size would be to have a tank that the op originally wanted?? foot print and gallonage is what i am looking for.

That's exactly what I would like.

I'm really eyeing the tenecor 620 right now. It's not much more than any of the 500s and it's awesome dimension wise. Not to mention the lifetime Garantee.....I'd never have to buy another tank again.

Now just gotta sell the bike and get started.
