What do you guys put in your water to make it prestine and suitable for you piranhas? for example: stress coat, prime, salt, ect?
I want them looking the best they can!

Prime, and water change every couple days.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

no slime or stress coat?

It depends, if your shoal is nippy then add some stress coat, I used to use it, but I switched to salt to heal their fins, prime is what I've always used for my shoal during regular wc. Also piranhas prefer blackwater, microbe lift amazon extract is a good product, other than that stay away from chemicals, they appreciate pristine water with a varied diet, get them on pellets if you wanna see some healthy Piranha! Shrimp and talapia are also great!

I do agree , stay away from chemicals when you can , change water freaquent and a good well rounded diet and your fish should show awesome color . If there healthy you will see it , they will let you know .:)

x3. i have a single rhom, so there is no fighting. just constant feeding and cleaning.

well i used to have 3 red bellies in a 90 gallon. they lived to be 5 years old until a power outage over the weekend :(
I always used prime during water changes and nothing else. I would do a WC once a week at 50%.
I think that was more than enough for them to show color, but they never had brilliant red bellies or anything.

Since they passed, i recently bought a sanchezi from aquascape and im going to do the same thing. I just hope he shows more color from doing 50% WCs once a week. Maybe ill try housing blackwater if i dont see results.

PS: hes on Shrimp and tilapia. ive tried pellets...doesnt go for them :/

yeah i was devestated when i came home to find my pygos floating :/ but im excited to raise this little monster.
I just want to do everything i can for him to receive the best results.
I was going to ask about the aquarium salt and piranhas but i see there was already a thread saying it wasnt necesary except for aid.
Is the blackwater solution cheap? Where can i purchase it? and will it affect live plants/rocks/driftwood in any way?
