you must understand however, that scat's kelberis look extraordinary compared to all the kelberi coming in today.

They look to be very Orino untill I got down to the last pic, and looks to be noticeable spangling on the anal fins on a few of those. If that is the case, you got Kelberi. No other species displays anal / pelvic spangling.

yes i agree. so we shall see. the last photos are of 5.5" confirmed kels. scat's juvi kels look bad *** at under 3" (Im interested to see the full grown update if available). The orino looking "kel" juvis don't have the spangling in tail fin, none in lower fins but have the blotchiness in upper back area when stirred up. Have them right next to same size orino juvis so pretty easy to compare. I suppose they could be different kinds (2 color schemes) of orinos as suggested by seperate post here on MFK.

i've got 4 7-8" kelberis that are just starting to show spangling in lower fins at this size. The 2-5.5" ones have more spangling than the larger fish. It does appear in this case that it's fish to fish as to how when the lights come on.

fingers crossed. thanks for sharing photos.

haynshinook - are those kelberis in the photo?

to be honest i think your small "kelberi" are orinos.
scats over over 10" now.
there are quite a few pics around the forum, just do a search and you will find them.

as for haychinook's pic,i believe its a kelberi up front and back two are orinos.

Chann is right, the one up front is a Kelberi (rapps 3rd batch) and the two in the back are orino's.

here............:D
majority kelberi juviniles:)

I agree that those smaller cichla in the first pic appear to be orinos.

I might be wrong but i think most kelberi have the black line going through the tail. something you won't usually find on orinos.

Here are a few pictures of my kelberi at around 2"

Nice, are those recent? If so, where did you get the tiny azuls (or tems)?
Nice fish.
